patrolled with menace;
the foul stench of evil
pervades every crevice.
Cruelty -
A vicious taskmaster;
rules with terror,
relishing sadistic torture
Its victims cowered;
dignity stolen;
live a miserable existence;
while hunger and sickness
lurk impatiently in shadows.
Humanity abandoned;
death the only escape.
