The Matrix
A Christmas to remember;
a lifetime’s holiday,
for the man and the woman
and their two precious sons.
Too terrifying to imagine,
from nowhere it came;
a wall of roaring water,
spewing death in its wake.
Only an hour it took
to wreak utter devastation;
screaming panicked people
fleeing for their lives.
The man and the woman
move slowly;
her tiny son clutched to her breast;
his six year old brother,
walks forlornly by her side.
Observed by a reporter -
the boy’s England shirt stands out;
the child turns,
with tears in his eyes,
he says;
“My baby brother is dead”
A nightmare of a holiday;
a Christmas to forget.
